Southern Cross Care WA, a prominent not-for-profit organisation in Western Australia with over 50 years of service, is dedicated to supporting individuals in living meaningful lives through care, support, and accommodation, especially for those most in need. Employing around 1000 staff and 130 volunteers, they serve more than 3000 clients across various community services including residential aged care, mental health, and home care.
Role Overview and Workplace
We are searching for a committed and organised Business Support Officer / Rostering Officer to join our team at Germanus Kent House in Broome on a full-time, Monday to Friday basis. Germanus Kent House is a modern aged care facility reflecting the Kimberley region’s culture and beauty, providing personalized, culturally sensitive care that fosters connections between residents, families, and communities.
Key Duties and Accountability
- Deliver comprehensive administrative assistance to the Home Manager, staff, residents, and their families.
- Manage resident admissions and discharges including processing associated documentation effectively.
- Maintain precise records for residents, facility registers, and handle archives responsibly.
- Serve as an essential contact point by handling phone enquiries, welcoming visitors and contractors, and carrying out general reception responsibilities.
- Support daily facility operations including maintenance coordination and stakeholder communication.
- Process financial documentation such as invoices, resident charges, purchase orders, stock inventories, and office supply requisitions.
- Assist with workforce-related duties including employee onboarding, orientation, uniform allocation, IT equipment setup, and administrative support.
- Coordinate rostering activities, manage timesheets, monitor clock discrepancies, liaise with agencies, and ensure smooth roster transitions.
- Ensure adherence to organisational policies, confidentiality standards, infection control, and quality benchmarks.
- Participate in continuous improvement programs, oversee staff education records, and promote efficient operations of the care home.
Candidate Profile
Ideal candidates will be highly organised, approachable, and passionate about supporting both residents and colleagues. Experience in administration, rostering or business support within aged care, healthcare, disability services, or related environments is highly valued. The ability to balance multiple priorities in fast-paced settings, along with meticulous attention to detail and strong communication skills, is essential. Candidates should be adept at building positive relations with diverse stakeholders and committed to excellent customer service. Proactive collaboration and independent problem solving are important attributes.
Requirements
- Proven experience in administrative, rostering, or scheduling roles.
- Capacity to handle competing demands and meet deadlines efficiently.
- Excellent organisational skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Strong interpersonal and communication capabilities focusing on customer needs.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook, Word, and Excel at intermediate to advanced levels.
- Previous use of rostering, payroll, time and attendance, or workforce management software is advantageous.
- Experience in aged care, healthcare, disability or community services environments is highly regarded.
- Ability to manage confidential information sensitively and professionally.
- Strong problem-solving skills and an ability to work both independently and collaboratively within teams.
