Job description
Role Overview
Reporting directly to the Business Risk and Continuity Manager, the Business Risk and Continuity Specialist plays an essential role in implementing and advancing Telecel Ghana’s comprehensive business risk management framework. This position spearheads company-wide risk initiatives, develops and manages Business Continuity and Crisis Management (BCCM) strategies, and guarantees compliance when launching new products and services.
Key Duties
- Lead and coordinate risk assessment programs and periodic business updates across the enterprise.
- Oversee risk evaluations for all new product and service introductions to ensure regulatory and internal compliance while minimizing risk exposure.
- Manage and maintain the BCCM framework, including responsibility for the Business Recovery Centre and alternative communication methods.
- Regularly update Business Impact Analyses and assign accountability to functional owners.
- Plan and conduct at least one live and two tabletop simulation exercises annually with critical business units to test preparedness.
- Provide specialized training to employees and contractors tasked with Business Continuity duties.
- Document, assess, and improve the results of continuity plan test exercises.
- Offer on-call assistance during emergency activations of Business Continuity Plans.
- Ensure scheduled testing of all technical elements within the BCCM system annually or post-significant changes.
- Create and update Incident Response Management Plans for major organizational functions.
- Lead awareness initiatives on BCCM protocols throughout the organization.
- Maintain and report on the BCCM risk register and manage the BCCM Steering Committee activities.
- Assist and coordinate with the Crisis Management Team, ensuring readiness of tools and facilities during crises and facilitating communication between teams during CMAP activations.
- Work closely with stakeholders to identify and mitigate risks, facilitating ongoing communication related to major operational changes and their mitigation.
- Draft and finalize crisis management guidelines for projects and events in collaboration with management.
- Conduct timely due diligence for new supplier requests within a service level agreement of three working days.
- Maintain an up-to-date Politically Exposed Persons (PEP) register and share monthly updates with key stakeholders.
- Prepare due diligence and business risk reports for leadership and governance review.
- Monitor project milestones, execute testing to confirm control effectiveness, and support both internal and external audits to ensure full compliance with BCM standards.
Candidate Requirements
- At least two years' experience with formal training in Enterprise Risk Management frameworks.
- Strong grasp of Business Continuity and Crisis Management concepts and best practices.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Comprehensive understanding of telecommunications business processes and internal control systems.
- Proven ability to lead business points of contact (SPOCs) to meet key performance indicators.
- Agility in adapting to changing business demands and environments.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
