Business Intelligence Administrator

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Business Intelligence Administrator to manage and optimize our BI platforms including Power BI (Power Platform), Tableau Cloud, and Sigma. The role involves ownership of platform health, managing migration projects, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality BI assets such as models, reports, and dashboards.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer Power BI Service, Tableau Cloud, legacy Tableau Server, and Sigma platforms.
• Manage permissions, workspaces, Row-Level and Object-Level Security, data refresh schedules, and data connections using Gateways and Bridge.
• Assist with the migration from Tableau Server to Tableau Cloud by conducting content inventories, cleanup, permissions mapping, Bridge setup, and scheduling cutovers.
• Create, review, and maintain semantic models, datasets, dataflows, and dashboards, establishing standards for performance and accessibility.
• Implement continuous integration and deployment pipelines for Power BI using GitHub integration, including version control and automated deployments.
• Monitor platform capacity, usage, costs, and handle incident troubleshooting while publishing dashboards on health, adoption, and administration.
• Collaborate with Security and IT teams on governance including sensitivity labels, data loss prevention, auditing, and assist analysts with training and enablement.
• Support and lead a Center of Excellence (COE) for Sigma, Tableau, and Power BI to maintain user engagement and enforce best practices in development, governance, and security.
• Evaluate existing BI environments and provide architectural recommendations and strategies.
• Work closely with Data Engineering teams to integrate legacy databases into BI tools.
• Optimize BI architecture and assist with the decommissioning of legacy BI systems.
• Provide architectural guidance alongside hands-on support across the BI landscape.

Requirements and Core Skills

• Deep knowledge of BI platform architectures, specifically Tableau Cloud, Power BI, and Sigma.
• Strong experience with Power BI administration and development including DAX, Power Query/M, dataflows, semantic modeling, deployment pipelines, and familiarity with XMLA.
• Working familiarity with the Sigma BI tool.
• Understanding of Power Platform basics for BI such as Power Automate integrations and environment/data loss prevention policies.
• Proven administration abilities in Tableau (Cloud and Server) including site and project management, permission handling, extracts, and scheduling.
• Hands-on involvement in migrating Tableau Server environments to Tableau Cloud, including configuring Tableau Bridge for on-premises data sources.
• Experience implementing GitHub-based software development life cycle (SDLC) processes for Power BI, including Git integration, branching, pull requests, version control, and automated deployment pipelines.
• Knowledge of security and governance in BI: row and object-level security implementations, sensitivity labels, auditing, and identity management using Entra ID (Azure AD).
• Comfortable scripting and automation skills using PowerShell or Python, and working with Power BI and Tableau REST APIs.
• Strong documentation, effective communication with stakeholders, and efficient troubleshooting capabilities.
