Role Overview
The position of Business Analyst at Queensland Corrective Services requires extensive experience in the IT sector, with a strong focus on developing detailed requirements and specifications adhering to established standards. The role emphasizes analytical thinking, problem-solving, and effective communication skills to translate complex system and process information into clear and engaging communications. Primary Responsibilities
- Identify and document business functions and processes.

- Record requirements using standard formats or requirement management tools.
- Collaborate with business clients to explore solutions, conduct feasibility evaluations, and prepare business cases for proposed changes.
- Engage with stakeholders to comprehend organizational structure, policies, and operations and recommend technological solutions that align with agency objectives.
- Gather and document business requirements employing diverse business analysis techniques.
- Interpret business needs into detailed functional and non-functional requirements, including software specifications as necessary.
- Communicate business requirements effectively to development and testing teams.
- Act as liaison between technical teams and business clients to define, refine requirements, and develop solutions.
- Support technical staff in developing urgent technical solutions.
- Contribute to risk identification and mitigation during project phases.
- Apply broad ICT and business knowledge to identify suitable technology-based solutions.
- Work alongside ICT personnel to ensure thorough tracing of requirements through to test cases, expediting issue resolution.
- Provide timeline estimates for requirement development to assist effective program work planning.
- Ensure stakeholder awareness of ICT service offerings and promote cost-conscious solutions for improved value delivery.
- Build strong relationships with both business and technical teams to inform ICT solution design.
- Negotiate with customers to understand needs and formulate business solutions.
- Organize and conduct workshops to clarify and negotiate desired business outcomes.
- Work collaboratively with staff across divisions and agencies.
- Create and maintain networks with business and other stakeholders to foster partnerships.
- Adapt to changing customer requirements and expectations promptly.
- Provide timely responses to system issues reported by staff.
- Maintain professionalism with a strong customer service focus.
