This position is based in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire.
Compensation and Benefits
The role offers an hourly rate between £17.00 and £17.25, supplemented with a Christmas profit-related bonus and additional company benefits. Paid holiday entitlement includes 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays. Employees also have access to a pension scheme and internal training and development programs.
Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled Bench Joiner to join a well-established bespoke joinery firm specializing in commercial display stands, retail fixtures, and custom furniture manufacturing. This permanent role involves working in a small, friendly workshop environment on varied and bespoke projects.
Work Schedule
The working hours are Monday through Thursday from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM, and Friday from 7:30 AM to 1:30 PM.
Responsibilities
- Manufacture and assemble tailored furniture, commercial display units, joinery items, and fixtures.
- Interpret and work according to technical drawings, diagrams, and build instructions.
- Precisely measure, cut, shape, and fit components.
- Operate with diverse materials such as MDF, plywood, solid timber, veneers, laminates, acrylics, glass, and metal.
- Utilize a broad range of hand and power tools effectively.
- Handle woodworking machinery including wall saws, spindle moulders, and edge banders.
- Ensure all completed products meet established quality standards and project requirements.
- Collaborate as part of a small team to achieve timely project completion.
- Keep the workshop environment tidy, well-organized, and safe at all times.
Candidate Requirements
- Demonstrable experience as a Bench Joiner or in a similarly skilled joinery role.
- Familiarity working with various timber and sheet materials, including MDF, plywood, laminates, solid wood, and veneers.
- Confidence and proficiency using both hand tools and power tools, as well as woodworking machinery.
- Ability to read, understand, and apply technical drawings and diagrams accurately.
- A strong eye for detail and a commitment to producing quality workmanship.
- Dependability, a strong work ethic, and good self-management abilities.
- Comfortable and effective in a small team working environment.
