Job description
Overview
Seeking an Assistant Construction Manager specialized in civil engineering to lead and manage construction activities specifically within Oil & Gas and Substation projects. This role is responsible for overseeing project execution from planning to completion while ensuring compliance with quality standards, safety, and project timelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all civil construction tasks such as foundations, cable trenches, duct banks, control buildings, paving, drainage, and retaining structures for energy-related projects.
- Ensure construction aligns with approved designs, methods, safety protocols, and quality requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
- Monitor and evaluate project progress to meet milestones, applying corrective measures as needed.
- Coordinate site operations to optimize workflow and resource allocation including manpower, materials, and equipment.
- Review and approve construction drawings, method statements, and related technical documents before execution.
- Collaborate with engineering and design teams to resolve technical issues encountered onsite.
- Manage material consumption and maintain accurate material reconciliation and inventory control records.
- Supervise vendor and subcontractor activities, ensuring adherence to contract, quality, and schedule expectations.
- Maintain strong communication channels with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and internal teams for effective coordination.
- Prepare and submit detailed daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports and performance metrics to management.
- Drive adherence to Health, Safety, and Environmental policies and promote a culture of safety across the worksite.
- Conduct site safety inspections and ensure timely resolution of identified risks.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or an equivalent field.
- Demonstrated experience in managing civil construction projects, especially within Oil & Gas or Substation domains.
- Proficient in construction methodologies, quality assurance procedures including Requests for Inspection and Inspection and Test Plans.
- Skilled in material management, resource planning, project reporting, and subcontractor supervision.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management capabilities.
