Overview
We are seeking a dedicated API Maintenance Lead (Associate Director level) to oversee all maintenance activities for the API Integrated Process Team (IPT) and its related equipment at our Ballydine, County Tipperary site. This leadership role involves managing a high-performing maintenance team focused on talent growth, capability enhancement, and fostering a growth mindset. The incumbent will ensure effective maintenance scheduling and planning to maximize asset availability, meet compliance standards, and manage costs efficiently.
Site Context
Ballydine is the main Drug Substance commercialization hub within our network, central to scaling new processes and transitioning them to commercial manufacturing. The site supports both clinical and commercial API supply and coordinates process and technology transfers across internal manufacturing sites and external partners.
Role Details
- Plan and schedule all preventive and corrective maintenance work for equipment and facilities to optimize maintenance activities.
- Ensure completion and proper close-out of all maintenance tasks.
- Develop and improve preventive maintenance programs for equipment.
- Investigate and resolve all corrective maintenance and equipment-related issues.
- Manage engineering expenses, including routine and non-routine costs.
- Provide maintenance input for the site’s capital planning processes.
- Serve as the maintenance liaison for all API IPT projects led by the Site Projects Group, including assessing priorities, scope, design reviews, and acceptance procedures.
- Collaborate in shutdown planning and coordinate associated maintenance activities.
- Act as the subject matter expert for assigned equipment systems.
- Drive high asset uptime through effective maintenance, ensuring compliance with PM and calibration standards; report engineering metrics and implement action plans when gaps are identified.
- Partner with the Reliability and Systems Lead to promote continuous improvement through Model Area initiatives and digital tools, utilizing methodologies like Model Area, Kata, 8-step problem solving, and 5S.
- Ensure resource availability to meet business demands while managing maintenance labor costs and expenditures on repairs and spare parts.
- Guarantee compliance with cGMP, environmental, labor, industrial health, and safety regulations in all API asset management activities; serve as the topic owner for PM and calibration.
- Promptly investigate and resolve all compliance-related deviations.
- Prepare and monitor the maintenance budget for the API IPT, managing performance against targets and overseeing financial governance of maintenance capital projects.
- Participate in the Engineering Leadership Team to uphold overall site engineering standards and undertake additional duties as assigned by the Engineering Lead.
Candidate Profile
- Possess an Honours Degree in Engineering, Science, or equivalent post-trade qualifications and experience.
- Have broad, multi-functional engineering experience, with a minimum of 5 years in engineering or maintenance roles.
- Demonstrate knowledge of Operational Excellence and Asset Reliability principles.
- Understand safety and environmental legislation thoroughly.
- Exhibit strong knowledge of unit operations and plant equipment.
