Analyst, Content Safety

Position Overview

This role is dedicated to protecting the Google Ads environment through a combination of thorough data analysis, leadership in cross-team collaboration, and direct investigative efforts. The analyst uses data to anticipate fraudulent activities, collaborates with engineering to enhance detection algorithms, and ensures that safeguards maintain a seamless experience for legitimate advertisers.

Key Responsibilities

• Work closely with teams such as Product Management, Engineering, Sales, and Legal to promote user safety and improve online experiences via Google Ads.
• Perform advanced data queries and analysis, develop visual representations of abuse patterns, and present insights to support fraud prevention and refine detection mechanisms without degrading advertiser satisfaction.
• Investigate fraudulent behaviors, enforce product policies, analyze scam trends, and identify vulnerabilities in products.
• Pursue opportunities for automation and efficiency improvements by leading analytical projects and fostering cross-functional partnerships.
• Provide on-call support periodically, handling urgent issues and escalations within agreed service timeframes, which may involve exposure to adult or sensitive content.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or comparable practical experience.
• Minimum of four years’ relevant experience in areas such as data analytics, Trust and Safety, policy enforcement, cybersecurity, or related disciplines.

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in quantitative fields like computer science, engineering, mathematics, or statistics.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and attentiveness to detail in dynamic settings.
• Proficiency in scripting and programming languages such as Python, Java, or C/C++.
• Experience with fraud investigation, policy enforcement, fraud risk oversight, internet advertising, or e-commerce sectors.
• Background in business analysis, statistical techniques, machine learning, or artificial intelligence.

Compensation and Benefits

This position offers a salary range of $116,000 to $167,000 annually in the US, complemented by a target bonus of 15%, equity options, and a comprehensive benefits package. Benefits include health, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance; 401(k) retirement plans with company matching; paid time off (20 vacation days accrued at 6.15 hours per pay period for the first five years); 40 sick hours annually (69 in Seattle) including discretionary sick days; maternity leave totaling 28-30 weeks; baby bonding leave of 18 weeks; and 13 paid holidays.
