About the Role
Bert's Auto Parts Ltd. is seeking an Accounting Analyst with a strong aptitude for financial data analysis, accuracy, and strategic thought to join our team in Kingston, Jamaica. This pivotal role supports management through detailed financial reporting and budgeting that influence key business decisions.
Core Responsibilities
- Lead the development and documentation of annual planning, budgeting, and reporting timetables, ensuring accountable managers understand and fulfill their responsibilities.
- Create and manage Excel budget submission templates and contribute to budget preparation within established timelines.
- Consolidate and review budgets, rolling forecasts, and cash flow plans with leadership for informed decision-making.
- Monitor expenditures on projects and ensure accurate accounting of work in progress, fixed assets, and capital and revenue expenditures.
- Maintain the fixed assets register, including asset transfers, retirements, sales, disposals, and depreciation charge calculations implemented monthly and quarterly.
- Perform asset verification and resolve discrepancies between physical inventory and records.
- Generate timely, detailed management accounting reports that facilitate performance reviews and reinforce accountability.
- Support financial analysis for organizational special projects as needed.
Qualifications and Experience
- Undergraduate degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or closely related disciplines.
- Progress towards a recognized professional accounting certification such as CPA, CMA, or ACMA is advantageous.
- Three to five years of practical experience in business or financial analysis roles.
Skills and Competencies
- Advanced proficiency with Excel, including expertise in macros and pivot tables.
- Experience with Business Intelligence tools is a plus.
- Familiarity with multi-user accounting software such as Sage ACCPAC, Sage 50, QuickBooks, or Microsoft Dynamics is preferred.
- Strong data manipulation skills enabling effective communication and insight generation for non-financial stakeholders.
Performance Metrics
- Meeting deadlines for internal management reporting.
- Timely closing and transfer of project accounts to fixed assets.
- Completion rate of physical inventories of property, plant, and equipment.
- Customer satisfaction levels internally and externally.
- Quality and usefulness of management reporting delivered.
Additional Information
The role is positioned onsite at the company's Kingston office with full-time engagement expected. The Accounting Analyst will be instrumental in budget management, forecasting, and ensuring strong financial governance within the organization.
