In New Zealand, the company holds a strong position in the merchant channel and is initiating this Auckland-based sales role as a milestone hire for ambitious growth.
Role Summary
Reporting directly to the Sales Director for New Zealand, this role entails managing a significant portfolio comprising roughly 130 merchant accounts within a sales region covering Waikato, Bay of Plenty, and parts of Taranaki. The successful candidate will foster relationships across all branch levels, from management to frontline staff, aiming to expand business and defend MiTek's established market share.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and expand a portfolio of accounts in construction and hardware merchant sectors.
- Develop strong multi-tier relationships within branch management and staff teams.
- Execute a structured call cycle, prioritizing time based on account value and growth opportunities.
- Manage the complete sales cycle from prospect identification through to solution delivery.
- Collaborate with the specifications team to offer technical support and streamline workflows.
- Coordinate with the marketing department on trade events and product training initiatives.
- Ensure accurate entry of client activities into Salesforce CRM, sharing relevant account information.
- Work closely with the fabrication channel team to ensure a consistent customer experience.
Required Skills and Experience
- A minimum of 5 years' field sales expertise, preferably within building, construction, or merchant trade channels.
- Demonstrated capability to manage a designated territory and account portfolio effectively.
- Strong analytical skills to utilize data for prioritizing sales pipeline and account management.
- Consultative and relationship-driven sales approach; technical knowledge is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Possession of a valid New Zealand driver’s licence with readiness for field travel, including potential overnight trips 2-3 times monthly.
- Basic knowledge of building or construction disciplines is highly valued.
