Position Overview

Reporting directly to the Chief Information Officer, this executive position is charged with shaping the strategic vision, ensuring operational excellence, and advancing the technology infrastructure across the health system. As a key member of the IT Executive Leadership Team, the role encompasses oversight over critical IT areas including network, security, data storage, server management, telephony systems, Active Directory, email, desktop and mobile device management, data warehousing, data center operations, and cloud strategy. This leader functions as a vital partner in implementing Piedmont Healthcare's enterprise technology initiatives while maintaining system reliability, scalability, security, and alignment with the goal of delivering superior patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and guide a comprehensive multi-year roadmap for enterprise technology and infrastructure that aligns with the system's strategic objectives
  • Lead evaluation, selection, and governance processes for technology platforms spanning cloud, on-premises, and hybrid solutions
  • Promote innovative capabilities such as AI/ML infrastructure, interoperability enhancements, and future clinical technology platforms
  • Collaborate closely with the CIO to transform clinical and business requirements into strategic technology investments
  • Establish and maintain standardized technology frameworks to ensure consistency, scalability, and vendor alignment
  • Manage the design, implementation, and daily operations of enterprise-wide infrastructure including data centers, networks, cloud environments, and end-user computing devices

  • Implement cost-saving initiatives through strategic sourcing, vendor consolidation, automation, and cloud resource optimization
  • Deliver transparent financial analysis including ROI assessments to the CIO and executive leadership team

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related discipline is required
  • A minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible technology leadership experience, including at least 7 years in senior leadership roles
  • Documented success managing large-scale enterprise infrastructure changes such as cloud migrations, data center consolidations, and network upgrades
  • Experience or significant knowledge of integrated health systems, academic medical centers, or multi-site healthcare delivery organizations
  • Demonstrated leadership in managing technology infrastructure and operations within large and complex organizations; healthcare experience is preferred
