Job description
Position Overview
USIC is seeking dedicated individuals passionate about outdoor fieldwork to join as Utility Locators in Gainesville, FL. This role involves high safety standards and independent work in locating underground utilities across various categories such as telecommunications, electric power, cable TV, gas, water, and sewer systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Precisely and safely identify and mark the locations of underground utilities within assigned areas.
- Complete detailed documentation and capture photographic evidence for each locate task performed.
- Operate independently using company-provided vehicles equipped with advanced technology and utilize best-in-class ticket and claims management systems.
- Adhere to a 48-hour turnaround for many locate requests, requiring work on holidays, some weekends, overtime, and on-call shifts including nights and weekends as business demands.
Candidate Requirements
- Ability and willingness to work outdoors in diverse weather conditions; previous outdoor work experience is advantageous.
- Technologically proficient to manage necessary equipment and software efficiently.
- Capacity to work extended hours including overtime, weekends, and on-call as required.
- Must pass a drug screening due to the safety-sensitive nature of the work.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license coupled with a clean driving record.
- Physical capability to work in confined spaces, walk extensively, bend, and lift up to 75 pounds.
- Ability to distinguish colors utilized for utility markings accurately.
- Competence in reading and interpreting locate tickets, maps, and blueprints.
- Effective communication skills to liaise clearly with coworkers, customers, contractors, and homeowners.
