Unit Coordinator - Hospital Unit

Role Overview

Join William Sanders Retirement Village in Devonport, Auckland as the full-time Hospital Unit Coordinator. Working Tuesday to Saturday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, you will guide and inspire your nursing team in providing outstanding care within an inclusive and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead nursing staff with clear expectations to ensure care quality, patient safety, and continuous advancement.
• Develop team competence through coaching, constructive feedback, and skill building, enhancing confidence and responsibility.
• Foster a positive, inclusive, and high-achieving workplace where team members feel respected and encouraged.
• Manage personalized care plans focused on achieving excellent clinical results for residents.
• Establish trusted connections with residents, their families or whānau, and healthcare professionals.
• Maintain excellence in interRAI assessments and accurate documentation, leveraging data for informed decision-making.
• Optimize rostering, workflows, and resource allocation to balance efficient operations with high-quality care.
• Provide visible, hands-on leadership across shifts, remaining accessible and supportive to staff.
• Understand the interplay between staffing, care acuity, and regulatory compliance to improve performance.
• Collaborate actively within the leadership team, including Clinical and Village Managers.

Candidate Profile

• Registered Nurse holding a current Annual Practising Certificate (APC).
• Experience in a Senior RN or Nursing leadership position.
• InterRAI competency or willingness to acquire this skill.
• Strong leadership with a focus on mentoring and building team capabilities.
• Ability to inspire and engage team members to deliver exceptional care.
• Proven clinical decision-making skills balancing patient needs, risks, and best practices.
• Proficient in using clinical information systems and data analysis to enhance care quality.
• Excellent communication, trust building, and clear expectation setting abilities.
• Compassionate, kind, and motivated to provide outstanding resident care.
• Flexibility to share on-call duties as scheduled by the Village Manager.
