About the Role
A well-established and expanding food manufacturing company based in Surrey is seeking a Supply Chain Planner & Buyer. This position offers an excellent chance for early-career professionals or recent graduates to develop expertise in purchasing, supply planning, supplier coordination, and inventory management.
Primary Responsibilities
- Create and oversee purchase orders for raw materials, packaging, and finished goods.
- Maintain and develop supplier partnerships both within the UK and internationally.
- Follow up with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of goods and packaging materials.
- Communicate with overseas vendors about production plans, shipping schedules, and delivery timelines.
- Track stock quantities to anticipate shortages or excess inventory.
- Assist in supply planning to guarantee customer demand fulfillment.
- Handle supplier contracts, pricing structures, and procurement documentation.
- Coordinate logistics operations with freight forwarders and transport providers when necessary.
- Collaborate closely with Production, Warehouse, Sales, and Customer Service departments to maintain smooth supply chain processes.
- Keep precise purchasing and inventory data updated in the ERP system.
- Generate reports and analyze stock levels and supplier performance metrics.
- Contribute to initiatives for continuous improvement within the supply chain function.
Candidate Profile
- Holding a degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Food Manufacturing, Procurement, Business, or a related area, or possessing relevant experience in similar roles.
- Familiarity with supply chain management, purchasing, planning, stock control, or food manufacturing processes.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, especially for dealing with domestic and international suppliers.
- Excellent organizational skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Competent numeracy and analytical capabilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Office applications.
- Ability to prioritize tasks effectively and maintain productivity in a dynamic, fast-paced setting.
