Role Summary

Supply Chain Planners report directly to a team leader or manager in supply planning. The role involves detailed master planning of fresh baked goods (bread, rolls, bagels) and some frozen inventory—both short term and long term—to meet operational KPIs related to fill rates, inventory levels, and financial targets. The position requires collaboration with internal departments such as Logistics, Finance, Manufacturing, Customer Excellence, Procurement, and Product Lifecycle Management. This is a fast-paced role emphasizing continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct short-term daily and long-term weekly master planning for assigned product categories including timely dissemination of relevant information.
  • Analyze capacity and inventory needs to balance operational requirements.
  • Work to maintain and enhance fill rates and financial objectives (including managing post-production waste) in line with leadership expectations.
  • Identify and investigate root causes of any KPI shortfalls to improve future performance.
  • Participate in or lead critical meetings as necessary.
  • Build and sustain strong working relationships with Manufacturing, Logistics, and Demand Planning teams.
  • Plan and replenish central ingredients and packaging weekly using planning tools such as SAP MRP.
  • Create and track purchase orders with suppliers to ensure smooth deliveries.
  • Coordinate with Product Life Management and bakeries on new product launches, ensuring timely order placement and inventory availability across the network.
  • Maintain supplier relationships, including evaluating performance via scorecards and discussing service levels periodically.
  • Implement improvements to enhance inventory accuracy for centrally stored raw materials.
  • Monitor, report, and update departmental KPIs regularly.
  • Oversee end-to-end tracking of deployment transactions.
  • Ensure clear and ongoing communication with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Learn and promote usage of current and new software tools.
  • Drive process and tool innovations that support overall business health.
  • Engage in the Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process, managing relevant presentation materials per product category.
  • Provide support during team members’ vacations as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Completed a post-secondary degree from a recognized university or college specializing in engineering, supply chain, statistics, mathematics, or equivalent experience.
  • One to two years of relevant professional experience or equivalent internships/co-op placements.
  • Solid understanding of supply chain fundamentals including forecasting, inventory control, and logistics.
  • Results-oriented mindset with a proactive approach to problem-solving and opportunity identification.
  • Attention to detail, capability to multitask, and strong analytical skills.
  • Familiarity with SAP is preferred.
  • Moderate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Knowledge and practical use of Power BI and MS Access are advantageous.
  • French language skills are an asset but not mandatory.
  • Flexibility to work varied schedules, including holidays and weekends.

Core Competencies

  • Adaptive Intelligence: Ability to adapt, embrace change, and improve outcomes through an agile and solution-focused approach.
  • Collaborative Intelligence: Emphasis on teamwork, relationship building, and fostering an inclusive culture.
  • Entrepreneurial Intelligence: Drive continuous improvement, a customer-centric focus, and decisive execution.
  • Leadership: Inspire and develop team members, promote collaboration, empower through delegation, manage conflicts, model coaching, and support informed risk-taking.

Additional Information

The description above represents general responsibilities and requisite skills but may be amended or expanded as needed. The role complies with Ontario’s Bill 190, confirming it as a genuine vacancy.
