Job description
Position Overview
The Stockperson / Cartpusher plays a vital role in ensuring a secure, orderly, and inviting environment for customers. Responsibilities include gathering shopping carts from designated areas such as cart corrals, parking lots, and store perimeters, and returning them using approved methods. This position supports store operations by providing excellent customer service and maintaining a focus on safety while helping to build skills in teamwork and retail processes.
Key Duties
- Retrieve shopping carts from various locations and return them to proper storage spots per company procedures, ensuring all logs are accurately maintained.
- Promptly address requests from registers and Customer Service, assist customers with carrying items, and verify purchase receipts when necessary.
- Perform cleaning and upkeep of store facilities and equipment, including restrooms, while safely handling chemicals and equipment according to guidelines.
- Adhere strictly to safety protocols such as hazardous communication, lockout/tagout, and bloodborne pathogen procedures to maintain a safe environment.
- Wear required personal protective gear like steel-toe footwear and reflective vests and conduct safety sweeps to promote hazard-free workspaces.
- Demonstrate flexibility by working various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to help maintain smooth store operations.
Challenges in the Role
- Manage high volumes of tasks efficiently in a fast-paced, dynamic setting.
- Plan and manage overnight hours to maintain energy and focus during shifts.
- Carry out physical tasks including standing for long periods, bending, and lifting supplies weighing up to 20 lbs regularly and up to 50 lbs occasionally.
- Consistently perform repetitive tasks like stocking and organizing with attention to detail to preserve store standards.

Compensation
The starting hourly wage for this position is $16.90 CAD.
