Stellenbeschreibung
Role overview
An opportunity is available for a motivated, caring and detail-focused nurse to join an 18-bed gynaecology ward team in Swindon. The ward works closely with consultants, advanced practitioners and service managers to provide a responsive and high-quality service for patients and their carers. The team also supports patients from other specialties such as medicine, surgery, occasional orthopaedics and breast surgery. Nurses interested in learning more about the Early Pregnancy and Emergency Gynaecology unit may also have opportunities to broaden their experience there.
Please note that candidates who are due to qualify in Spring 2026 are not eligible to apply, as the NQ Nursing campaign has already closed. All applicants must hold a valid UK NMC registration at the time they submit their application.
What the role involves
The post holder will be accountable for delivering safe, evidence-based and individualised care to an allocated patient group, either in an acute hospital setting or in the community. The role includes assessing patients, planning care, carrying out treatment, and reviewing outcomes in line with professional boundaries and local standards.
You will also contribute to the ongoing improvement of care standards, including nursing practice and outcome monitoring, while actively maintaining your own professional development.
Key duties
- Deliver compassionate nursing care that is tailored to each patient’s needs.
- Maintain consistently high standards of care, safety and patient wellbeing.
- Assess patients using the relevant care models and coordinate discharge planning and multidisciplinary referrals where required.
- Administer medicines safely through approved routes once competency has been achieved, following NMC medicine administration standards and local policy.
About the employer
The hospital is part of the BSW Hospitals Group, a partnership between Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Royal United Hospitals Bath NHS Foundation Trust and Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust. Together, the group supports more than 17,600 colleagues, operates with a budget of 1.6 billion, and serves over 1 million people across the region.
The partnership is working to build a joined-up health and care system that improves access, experience and outcomes for patients, supports colleagues better, and addresses shared challenges including sustainability and finances.
Qualifications and experience
Essential requirements include registration as a first-level nurse, current active registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council, and a diploma or degree qualification. Desirable qualifications include a teaching or assessor award such as ENB 998, or equivalent experience in teaching and assessment.
Applicants should be able to document information accurately, communicate clearly in writing and verbally, handle sensitive or challenging situations professionally, organise their workload effectively, work confidently with IT systems, and be willing to complete additional training and assessment for further clinical skills.
Additional information
This role is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service check under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975. Candidates who need Skilled Worker sponsorship in the UK may apply and will be considered alongside all other applicants.
From 6 April 2017, Skilled Worker applicants seeking entry clearance to the UK must provide criminal record certificates from every country where they have lived continuously or cumulatively for 12 months or more in the past 10 years. Adult dependants aged 18 and over are also subject to this requirement.
Applicants must already hold current UK professional registration.
