The Post’s Internship Program provides an engaging, hands-on opportunity to gain firsthand experience within the media and news sectors. Interns are regarded as integral team members contributing to significant projects that influence the company’s operations. The program includes career-enhancing masterclasses and networking prospects with peers and key company leaders.

Role and Responsibilities

Join the acclaimed sports team delivering bold and comprehensive coverage of local New York teams such as the Yankees, Knicks, and Giants, as well as major national sports like MLB, NBA, NFL, and NHL. As a part-time Sports Reporting Intern, working 24 hours weekly from mid-September through late November 2026, you will write and produce engaging content that captivates millions, attend and cover live sports events, break news stories, and collaborate closely with editors and video teams to craft compelling digital stories.

Key Duties

• Create, write, and edit sports stories for both digital and print, initially guided by editors.
• Work efficiently under tight deadlines to deliver timely, accurate reports on breaking news and major sports events.
• Cover live events such as MLB games, NBA and NHL practices, and press conferences.
• Identify and pitch original story ideas to maintain cutting-edge sports coverage.
• Partner with the sports video department to produce complementary daily content.
• Support and help optimize the sports section’s social media strategy to engage and inform the fan base.

Candidate Profile

• Previous experience writing for a college newspaper or sports website with a demonstrated passion for sports journalism.
• Comprehensive knowledge of all sports, particularly New York teams, and an enthusiasm for the local sports culture.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal capabilities.
• Understanding of and ability to adapt to the New York Post’s distinct writing style within a fast-paced newsroom environment.
• Strong work ethic, eagerness to learn quickly, and readiness to thrive in a dynamic sports journalism setting.

Additional Information

This part-time internship runs from September 14, 2026, to November 20, 2026, requiring on-site presence at the Midtown Manhattan office. Open to current juniors and seniors pursuing a bachelor's degree, Master’s students, or recent graduates who completed their studies within the past year.
