Role Summary

The Specialist in Family Medicine provides comprehensive primary healthcare for patients of all ages. This position involves preventing, diagnosing, treating, and managing both acute and chronic illnesses while encouraging health promotion and wellbeing. The specialist acts as a reliable healthcare provider, ensuring coordinated care with other specialties and seamless continuity of treatment within authorized clinical privileges.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver thorough primary care services for patients across all age ranges.
  • Diagnose and manage a wide array of acute and chronic conditions.
  • Perform routine health assessments, screenings, and wellness exams.
  • Create personalized management plans for chronic diseases including diabetes, hypertension, asthma, and cardiovascular disorders.
  • Encourage disease prevention via vaccinations, health education, and lifestyle advice.
  • Conduct minor medical procedures within licensure scope.
  • Evaluate mental health issues and provide treatment or referrals as needed.
  • Collaborate with specialists, allied health professionals, and community providers for coordinated patient care.
  • Interpret diagnostic tests such as laboratory results and radiology to inform clinical decisions.
  • Maintain precise and timely medical records adhering to organizational and legal standards.
  • Guarantee compliance with patient safety, infection control, and quality assurance protocols.
  • Offer urgent and routine medical care when required.
  • Engage in multidisciplinary teams, clinical audits, and continuous quality improvement projects.
  • Participate in clinical governance and ongoing professional development.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Medical degree (MBBS, MBChB, MD or equivalent) from an accredited institution.
  • Completion of recognized residency training in Family Medicine.
  • Specialist accreditation recognized by the Department of Health (DOH), Abu Dhabi.
  • Possession or eligibility for a valid DOH Specialist Family Medicine license.
  • At least 3 to 5 years of experience post-specialization in family medicine or primary care settings.
  • Proven clinical expertise managing patients of all ages.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to counsel patients effectively.
  • Dedication to evidence-based, patient-centered care practices.
