Position Overview
We are seeking a Soil Scientist to join our team on a remote contract basis. This role involves analyzing soil samples, interpreting data, and providing actionable recommendations that support sustainable crop production and land management. Responsibilities include developing and executing soil testing plans, assessing physical and chemical soil characteristics, and producing detailed reports for internal stakeholders and agricultural collaborators.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and carry out soil sampling and testing protocols to evaluate soil quality.
- Analyze soil physical and chemical properties to inform sustainable farming strategies.
- Prepare comprehensive reports and guidance for diverse audiences including internal teams and farming partners.
- Collaborate closely with product development and data science teams to integrate soil science findings into technological solutions.
- Contribute to research projects aimed at enhancing soil health and improving resource efficiency.
- Keep up-to-date with best practices, industry standards, and regulations related to soil conservation and sustainable agriculture.
Qualifications and Skills
- Strong background in soil science, agronomy, or environmental science with practical experience in soil analysis and data interpretation.
- Competence in designing soil sampling methodologies, laboratory testing, and field experiments.
- Skilled in analyzing and visualizing soil and agronomic data using appropriate software tools.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills to produce technical reports and convey insights to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to work autonomously in a remote environment and collaborate efficiently with cross-functional teams.
- Knowledge of sustainable agricultural practices, soil preservation techniques, and relevant regulatory frameworks.
- Educational qualifications include a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Soil Science, Agronomy, Environmental Science, or a related discipline. Prior research or industry experience in agriculture is advantageous.
