The role centers on backend platform engineering for products that reach millions of users across the world. You will create robust services and APIs that power key capabilities such as authentication, payments, subscriptions, analytics, and text-to-speech.

As part of a fully distributed engineering team, you will work closely with colleagues across functions to deliver dependable, high-performance backend systems. The position blends day-to-day software development with architectural ownership, giving you room to shape technical direction and evolve the platform.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and support scalable backend APIs for authentication, payments, subscriptions, analytics, consumption tracking, and text-to-speech features.
• Improve backend systems so they remain fast, reliable, secure, and maintainable as usage grows.
• Own and enhance the backend API landscape, ensuring smooth integration between internal services and external developer-facing APIs.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to align backend architecture with product goals, customer requirements, and user experience priorities.
• Create backend solutions and integrations that are ready for enterprise and B2B use cases, including tailored implementations.
• Take part in architecture conversations, technical roadmapping, and ongoing platform enhancements.
• Help choose and prioritize engineering work that delivers strong business value without compromising software quality.

Requirements

• Demonstrated professional background in backend development using TypeScript and Node.js.
• Solid experience designing and delivering scalable REST APIs and distributed backend architectures.
• Practical experience with Google Cloud Platform; knowledge of AWS, Azure, or similar cloud environments is an advantage.
• Good grasp of backend system design, performance tuning, scalability, and secure development practices.
• Ability to move quickly while still making careful technical decisions in a fast-moving setting.
• Experience working with engineering and product teams across functions.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in remote, asynchronous workflows.
• Bonus: experience with Docker and containerized development.
• Bonus: experience deploying and operating highly available Kubernetes-based applications.
