Role overview
The Women & Families Resource Centre is seeking a Social Media Officer to look after its social channels and help build stronger engagement with local audiences. This position requires at least 6 hours of work each week and involves scheduling posts, shaping creative content, and supporting the organisation’s wider digital presence.
The role is ideal for someone who combines creativity with strategy. You will work with brand guidelines, use materials shared by the team on the ground such as quotes, photos, and videos, and contribute ideas for short campaigns and fresh content. The role also includes reviewing audience data, understanding follower behaviour, and suggesting new ways to connect with people online.
Principal responsibilities
Your main objective will be to strengthen, grow, and maintain the organisation’s online visibility so its work reaches as many people as possible within the local community.
Main duties
- Build and support an effective social media plan.
- Use digital platforms to highlight WFRC activities, achievements, and updates.
- Keep social channels active and regularly refreshed.
- Encourage audience interaction, including comments and shares.
- Make sure messages reach a broad mix of local stakeholders and varied audiences.
- Create and manage content for the website and social platforms including Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube.
- Choose the most suitable channels for engaging different audience groups.
- Measure the results of social media activity and suggest improvements.
- Experiment with content and assess how it performs.
- Stay informed about WFRC events and news to decide what should be promoted.
- Prepare publicity content and communication approaches for communities that are less well represented.
- Visit projects and attend events to write blog articles about them.
- Organise, file, and archive photos and video content.
