Role overview
This is a senior leadership opportunity with a global business that designs, integrates and supports complete turnkey solutions for automated material handling systems. The position is based in Auckland and involves guiding a major industrial automation project valued at over $50 million.
The organisation builds customised technology solutions that are intended to be intelligent, scalable, environmentally conscious and innovative.
What you will do
- Act as a commercially focused deputy to the Project Director and play a central role in successful project delivery.
- Keep a strong commercial view while allowing technical specialists to lead on engineering detail.
- Take responsibility for the company’s scope within a consortium and operate as an equal counterpart to the consortium Project Director.
- Handle a complex stakeholder group that includes the client, builders, the joint venture partner, the consultancy and other parties.
- Lead, coordinate and oversee the project team while partnering closely with internal and external stakeholders.

Experience and capabilities required
- A leadership style that is approachable, adaptable and relationship-driven.
- Strong ability to build trust and establish relationships with new stakeholders.
- Proven delivery of large-scale industrial automation projects worth A$50 million or more, ideally involving electro-mechanical systems in live operating environments.
- Experience leading people with technical backgrounds.
- Solid understanding of budgeting and financial control.
- Comfort handling contractual and commercial matters such as variations.
- Demonstrated strength in negotiation and resolving conflict.
