About the Role

The Senior Payroll Officer is vital in ensuring smooth business operations by guaranteeing that all employees receive accurate and timely payments. Payroll is a crucial organizational function, and this position serves as a key player in delivering payroll services with precision, integrity, and attentiveness.

Beyond payroll processing, this role acts as a dependable resource for staff and managers, addressing payroll inquiries, leave matters, entitlements, and related advice. Collaborating closely with People Services, Finance, and other departments, this position supports compliance adherence, system improvements, process enhancements, and fosters a positive experience for employees. By consistently demonstrating accuracy, reliability, and detail orientation, the Senior Payroll Officer significantly contributes to the organization and its workforce during each pay period.

Required Skills and Experience

• Expertise in payroll management software such as Chris21, MicroPay, Preceda, SAP, KeyPay, or equivalent platforms; familiarity with ADP is a plus.
• Proven extensive payroll experience covering complete payroll cycles, preferably within medium to large organizations with over 400 employees.
• Comprehensive understanding of Australian payroll laws, including the Fair Work Act, PAYG, superannuation regulations, and Single Touch Payroll (STP) requirements.
• Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, capable of managing and analyzing payroll-related data with high accuracy.
• Strong numerical skills paired with meticulous attention to detail.
• Capacity to interpret employment agreements, awards, and payroll policies ensuring compliance and precise payroll results.
