Role Overview

As a Senior Designer based in Brisbane, you will helm innovative design projects that revamp workplaces and laboratories for clients within Life Science and Corporate sectors. Reporting to the Principal of Design, you will collaborate extensively across internal teams, clients, and consultants to deliver functional, visually impactful, and high-quality environments. This role emphasizes leadership, mentorship of junior designers, and promoting an inclusive culture of creativity and innovation.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead diverse projects ranging from large-scale initiatives to smaller renovations and restacking efforts.
• Provide client support and devise design solutions aligned with their internal requirements.
• Partner with Design Principals and Unispace teams to ensure methodologies are consistently applied throughout project stages.
• Maintain strong communication with clients, designers, consultants, and construction teams to exceed expectations.
• Manage design deliverables including drawings, finish boards, and comprehensive documentation.
• Drive transformation of workplaces and labs for a broad client base.
• Collaborate with Business Development and Construction to demonstrate Unispace’s unique value proposition to clients.
• Coordinate among various consultants such as MEP, lighting, AV, landscape, and structural to ensure seamless project progression.
• Lead design efforts from initial concept through to final construction documentation.
• Mentor and guide junior staff to cultivate design excellence and skill development.
• Prepare and present engaging presentations to clients that inspire confidence and enthusiasm.
• Deliver projects that balance aesthetic appeal, functionality, and financial viability.
• Contribute as an adaptable, cross-functional team member to guarantee project success.
• Promote a workplace culture emphasizing equality, creativity, and innovation.

Qualifications & Skills

• Over 8 years of experience in interior design.
• Proven track record leading effective design teams on Life Science, Corporate, and Commercial projects, including renovations, restacking, and phased developments.
• Ability to create innovative design solutions with major impact.
• Experience preparing detailed construction documentation.
• Proficiency with design software including Revit, AutoCAD, InDesign, Photoshop, and Excel.
• Excellent verbal and written presentation skills.
• Experience pitching and presenting to high-profile clients; background in large corporate campus design is advantageous.
