Key Responsibilities

• Continuously monitor US political, governmental, and national news to identify significant stories and emerging trends.
• Create breaking news updates, posts, summaries, and social-first content optimized for platforms such as Facebook and X.
• Research and confirm information via primary sources, official statements, and credible reports.
• Follow unfolding stories to provide ongoing updates as verified details become available.
• Select and adjust suitable images, videos, and graphics to complement social media content.
• Customize content style, tone, and format in alignment with each social platform's audience and requirements.
• Collaborate with editorial and content teams to ensure coverage coordination and uphold editorial accuracy.
• Manage multiple developing stories simultaneously while adhering to strict publishing deadlines.
• Maintain a consistent editorial voice, visual quality, and accuracy across all published content.
• Support coverage of key political events, elections, and breaking news, including occasional work during evenings or weekends when necessary.

Qualifications and Experience

• At least 4 years of professional experience producing social media content for news, politics, current affairs, or related media brands.
• Deep understanding of the US political landscape, including elections, government operations, public policies, and national news.
• Demonstrated ability to track breaking stories and identify relevant updates with audience-focused perspectives.
• Exceptional news judgment with strong skills in research, verification, fact-checking, and writing.
• Experience tailoring news content for different social media platforms and audience behaviors.
• Skilled in producing clear, concise, and precise social media copy under tight deadlines.
• Ability to distinguish confirmed facts from reported claims, analyses, and opinions accurately.
• Capable of managing multiple priorities independently while responding effectively to editorial feedback.
• High attention to detail with an emphasis on credibility and accuracy.
• Proven ability to create original written content without reliance on AI-generated or AI-rewritten material.
• Flexibility to support urgent coverage during breaking news events.
• Possession of a portfolio showcasing relevant social media work, including accounts managed and campaigns executed.
