Senior Compliance Officer

Position Overview

We are looking for a committed Senior Compliance Officer (AO5) to become part of the Casino Compliance Team at The Reef Hotel Casino, Cairns. This role offers the chance to help uphold the integrity of Queensland's casino sector by fostering responsible gambling and ensuring adherence to regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct diverse compliance activities related to liquor and gambling, such as audits, inspections, risk assessments, and ongoing monitoring.
• Investigate complaints and suspected legal breaches relevant to licensing and compliance, making recommendations for enforcement actions when necessary.
• Analyze and interpret legislation, applying policies and guidelines to promote effective compliance results.
• Compose official correspondence including advisories, warnings, and detailed investigation reports for supervisory review.
• Prepare legal documentation and participate in court proceedings by providing testimony as required.
• Support the training and professional growth of junior staff and share feedback with senior officers to enhance development programs.
• Contribute to the formulation and oversight of harm minimisation initiatives targeting the liquor and gambling sectors.
• Collaborate with industry stakeholders and community organizations to deliver education and guidance concerning liquor and gambling regulations.
• Perform additional duties as directed by management while maintaining professional and organizational standards.

Additional Information

This role requires working shifts including evenings, weekends, and public holidays to support regulatory activities throughout Queensland. Candidates should note that applications will be kept current for 12 months. The role is situated on-site at Cairns.
