Job description
Position Overview
Join Walmart Canada as a Self-Checkout Attendant and develop key skills in retail operations and customer service. This role is geared towards individuals who want to engage in a fast-paced environment, supporting customers as they complete transactions at self-service checkouts.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain cleanliness, safety, and organization of the self-checkout area, ensuring it is free from clutter, spills, or foreign objects.
- Promote Walmart's programs such as credit card services, product protection plans, and charitable efforts when appropriate.
- Assist customers by guiding them to use self-checkout efficiently, monitoring the area, resolving issues, and escalating cash or technical problems to management.
- Respond correctly to Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS) alarms and complete all necessary documentation for failure to deactivate incidents.
- Manage Scan & Go equipment by ensuring scanners are returned to proper storage after use.
- Adapt to varied shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays to meet business needs and maintain smooth store operations.
Challenges in This Position
- Handle a fast-paced workload including overnight shifts with effective energy management and focus.
- Carry out extensive restocking and recovery duties accurately and timely.
- Perform physical tasks like prolonged standing, bending, and lifting inventory or equipment up to 50 lbs., along with repetitive tasks such as stocking and zoning with attention to detail.

Compensation
The starting hourly wage for this role is $18.40.
Minimum Requirements
- Must be at least 16 years of age.
