Security Coordinator

Overview

SPIE Global Services Energy is seeking a Security Coordinator to join its team in Port Harcourt, Nigeria. This position reports directly to the Security Manager and supports the implementation of the organization's security strategy to mitigate risks and handle threats effectively. Key responsibilities include direct supervision and guidance to the organization's contracted security guards, both civil and armed, ensuring top-quality security service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary contact for the Security Manager and lead the provision of various manned guarding services.
• Provide daily leadership, supervision, and direction to the contracted guard force and coordinate with the security contractor management.
• Oversee the organization’s guard room, ensuring compliance with security policies and maintaining operational effectiveness of all security procedures and equipment.
• Maintain and manage all official security documentation and records efficiently.
• Respond to security incidents outside of normal hours under the Security Manager’s guidance, coordinating resources and emergency responses.
• Report security breaches and assist with incident management and follow-up procedures.
• Organize and manage duty rosters for guards and mobile patrol teams across the facility.
• Coordinate activities of armed guards (MOPOLS), including escorts and protective duties.
• Handle administration related to financial forecasting such as leave, timesheets, overtime, and resource requests.
• Develop and conduct training programs for security personnel to raise standards and enhance incident response coordination.
• Identify faults in security systems promptly, report to the Security Manager, and monitor corrective actions.
• Maintain accurate inventory and ensure all security equipment is functional.
• Provide backup support to the Security Manager during absences.

Candidate Profile

• Minimum 2 years’ supervisory or managerial experience over a large security guard team, or 5 years of experience in manned guarding services.
• Strong leadership qualities with an ability to earn respect and command teams effectively.
• Thorough knowledge of the operating base and surroundings in Port Harcourt.
• Innovative thinker capable of making timely decisions.
• Experience or knowledge in fleet management and logistical support is advantageous.
• Proficient in IT skills, particularly Microsoft Office applications.
• Competent in report writing with attention to detail.
• Willingness to work beyond regular hours if required.
