Screening Case Management Officer

About the Role

This permanent full-time position will commence in October 2026 at the Department of Education, Western Australia's Personnel Screening Unit, which is part of the Professional Standards and Conduct Division. The Unit is an accredited agency endorsed by the Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission to provide National Police Checking Services. Its primary responsibility is to ensure employee integrity through police clearance processes and review of relevant information.

Key Responsibilities

Screening Case Management Officers deliver efficient and customer-oriented support to screening applicants primarily via telephone and email. They maintain up-to-date knowledge of the Department’s Criminal History Screening policies and procedures, applying this expertise when addressing inquiries from schools, applicants, and other stakeholders. Responsibilities include verifying applicant identities in accordance with the Service Agreement with the Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission, enforcing business rules to protect privacy and confidentiality, liaising with applicants who have a criminal history and assisting in preparing statements and references, coordinating with WA Police, and assessing gathered information to recommend applicants' suitability for employment or placement.

Eligibility Criteria

• Applicants must be Australian or New Zealand citizens, permanent residents, or hold a valid visa with appropriate work rights for the appointment duration.
• Consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number from the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement.

Documents must include a CV (up to four pages) detailing employment history and relevant professional learning, and a statement (up to three pages) addressing the selection criteria, including:

• Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and work under pressure
• Experience assisting customers with interpreting and applying policies
