Role Overview
The Sales Engineer will collaborate closely with Account Executives to ensure technical success throughout the sales process. This role involves leading discovery discussions, providing customized product demonstrations, confirming solution suitability, and facilitating prospects' understanding of both the technical and business advantages of the InRule platform. It is suited for individuals adept at communicating with both technical and business stakeholders and translating complex requirements into clear, actionable solution proposals.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct technical discovery sessions to identify customer challenges, current workflows, integration demands, and success metrics.
- Create and present tailored product demonstrations linking InRule’s capabilities to specific customer use cases and desired business outcomes.
- Act as a technical consultant throughout the sales cycle, including discussions on system architecture, security, and technical validations.
- Lead or assist with proof-of-concept and pilot projects, defining scope, designing solutions, and ensuring successful implementation.
- Answer technical inquiries during sales efforts, Requests for Information/Proposal, and customer assessments.
- Collaborate with Account Executives on account planning, sales progression, and competitive strategy.
- Work jointly with Product, Engineering, Customer Success, and Marketing teams to provide feedback from the field and enhance support materials.
- Maintain deep knowledge of the InRule platform, common integration methods, and market competitors.
Candidate Requirements
- Mandatory:
- 3 to 5 years' experience in sales engineering, solutions consulting, technical presales, or a comparable customer-interfacing software role.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills capable of articulating technical details to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Proven experience delivering product demonstrations, conducting discovery meetings, and performing technical assessments within SaaS or enterprise software sectors.
- Understanding of APIs, integration methods, enterprise architecture principles, and software development lifecycles.
- Ability to convert business needs into actionable solution recommendations.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple ongoing opportunities.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant domain or equivalent practical experience.
- Preferred:
- Experience supporting software sales cycles in enterprise or mid-market settings.
- Knowledge of decision automation, workflow systems, rules engines, or process automation platforms.
- Familiarity with regulated industries such as insurance, financial services, healthcare, or government sectors.
- Experience using CRM and sales enablement tools like Salesforce.

Compensation
The salary ranges between 110,000 and 135,000 USD annually, applicable for both Chicago-based and fully remote employees within the United States.
