Role Overview
The Roster Clerk plays a critical role in developing and managing precise employee rosters using the Corporate Rostering Tool. Responsibilities include coordinating daily and weekly staffing schedules with compliance to national standards, managing absences such as sickness, leave, and training, and maintaining constant communication with local managers and employees to ensure roster accuracy and resolve queries efficiently.
This role also involves overseeing leave management, integrating safety-critical competencies into scheduling, conducting payroll-related checks, addressing late changes, analyzing fatigue risks in staff rosters, and supporting operational reporting to ensure compliant, effective service delivery.
Required Experience and Skills
- Strong understanding of national rostering principles and policies.
- Proven ability to prioritize tasks and meet stringent deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication capabilities.
- Experience in data analysis and reporting.
- Familiarity with conditions of service related to rostering and roster management systems.
- High accuracy in data handling and great attention to detail.
- Experience working effectively within a team environment including virtual collaboration.
- Solid general IT proficiency.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of payroll procedures for rostered employees.
- Geographical familiarity with the designated route.
- Insight into the UK rail industry.
