About the Role

The Relationship Manager will report to the Cluster Business Leader within the Commercial Banking unit, specifically focused on Medium Enterprises. This position is based in Hyderabad and graded at level G7 under Junior Management.

Role Objective

  • Drive the onboarding of new clients and expand existing banking relationships by offering a broad range of banking products and services.
  • Achieve set goals in assets, liabilities, and fee income prioritizing sustainable growth, cross-selling, and wallet share enhancement.
  • Ensure client requirements are met through effective coordination with internal departments, maintaining high standards of service, compliance, risk management, and improving customer satisfaction scores.

Key Duties & Performance Indicators

Strategy & Planning

  • Develop and implement client acquisition and portfolio growth plans that align with the bank’s strategic goals.
  • Set annual objectives collaboratively with managers, monitor progress continually.
  • Convert market trends and client feedback into actionable business strategies.
  • Provide structured insights from client and market interactions to enhance products and processes.

Revenue Generation and Relationship Management

  • Meet financial targets related to earnings, asset expansion, liability mobilization, and fee income across multiple product categories.
  • Enhance profitability by managing pricing strategies, portfolio composition, and capital allocation.
  • Spot and leverage cross-selling prospects to deepen client engagement and increase wallet share.
  • Establish and nurture new client relationships by understanding their financial and strategic needs.
  • Serve as a dependable advisor and primary contact, ensuring long-term partnerships and client retention.
  • Promote exceptional customer experiences via proactive communication and service quality.

Marketing and Market Research

  • Conduct branding initiatives to strengthen the bank’s market position.
  • Communicate product benefits clearly in presentations, workshops, and client discussions.
  • Differentiation from competitors through solution-oriented engagement.
  • Gain intimate knowledge of client industries, market dynamics, and competition through thorough research.
  • Forecast client needs by analyzing sector trends, regulatory updates, and economic variables.
  • Offer actionable intelligence to product, credit, and strategic teams to support portfolio growth.

Credit Appraisal and Compliance

  • Perform detailed financial analyses of clients including income, balance sheets, cash flows, and projections.
  • Assess management quality, industry risks, and economic factors to prepare sound credit proposals.
  • Manage timely renewals, evaluations, and ongoing portfolio monitoring.
  • Maintain meticulous documentation ensuring accuracy and legal compliance.
  • Adhere strictly to regulatory standards such as KYC, AML, FEMA, and RBI guidelines.
  • Collaborate with risk, operations, and product teams to guarantee compliance throughout transaction processes.
  • Develop expertise in both traditional and digital banking platforms including CMS and API-based solutions.

Self-Management and Risk Control

  • Set and track personal performance targets annually with managers.
  • Proactively identify learning needs to enhance skills via training, mentoring, and industry exposure.
  • Master role-specific competencies and acquire new skills continuously.
  • Keep updated on industry trends, regulations, and emerging best practices.
  • Apply the bank’s risk frameworks strictly to manage credit, operational, reputational, and compliance risks.
  • Detect and respond to early warning signs within the portfolio promptly.
  • Ensure audit preparedness through disciplined information handling, documentation, and compliance.
  • Foster a strong culture of risk awareness and compliance in all client and internal interactions.

Working Relationships

  • Internally collaborate with Risk teams for client credit assessments.
  • Coordinate with operations and product support teams for limit setups and trade transactions.
  • Engage with Trade and Business Associations to develop leads for trade client acquisition.
  • Maintain communication with credit bureaus and relevant external entities.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Essential: Bachelor's degree in any discipline.
  • Preferred: Master's degree.
  • Experience: 2 to 6 years in relevant roles, with at least 2 to 3 years in a comparable Relationship Manager capacity, preferably within BFSI or general industry sectors.
