About the role
Simpson Grierson is seeking an intermediate property lawyer to join its respected Real Estate Practice Group, which sits within one of New Zealand’s largest infrastructure practices. The role is based in either Auckland or Wellington and involves advising on major property and infrastructure work across the country.
This opportunity is suited to lawyers with at least 3 years’ post-qualification experience and experience across a wide range of real estate matters. You may come from private practice or an in-house environment.
What you will be working on
You will handle a varied portfolio that includes property development, commercial leasing, subdivisions, and the purchase and sale of commercial property. The work supports both public and private sector clients throughout Aotearoa New Zealand.
In addition to strong transactional experience, you should be comfortable carrying out legal research and preparing clear, well-structured opinions.
What we are looking for
The ideal candidate will be bright, self-starting, commercially aware, and confident in managing a busy workload with competing priorities. A collaborative mindset is important, as you will be part of a high-performing team and expected to contribute to the growth and mentoring of junior solicitors.
This position is well suited to someone looking to deepen their experience in a leading national firm, continue developing a strong legal career, or return to the New Zealand market after working overseas.
Why join Simpson Grierson
Simpson Grierson offers access to challenging, high-quality work along with ongoing professional development, flexible and hybrid working arrangements, a comprehensive wellbeing programme, competitive pay, and market-leading benefits. The firm has also been recognised as one of HRD Australia & New Zealand’s 5-Star Employers of Choice for 2026.
Additional information
The firm places strong emphasis on inclusion, wellbeing, and a people-first culture.
