Radio Room Operator

Overview

We are seeking a capable individual to join us as a Radio Room Operator based in Fujairah. This role involves coordinating crew and supply boats, managing communications, and supporting vessel operations in a key shipping and marine services hub.

Key Duties

• Coordinate crew and supply boat activities following checklists provided by Persons in Charge.
• Maintain and disseminate daily boat log sheets to relevant coordinators.
• Communicate cargo operation updates, especially during the absence of the primary handler such as out-of-office hours or holidays.
• Arrange transportation for crew or personnel as per requests, prioritizing use of own transport.
• Update vessel requirements and movements for boarding representatives to enable timely boarding.
• Monitor communications and provide operational coverage after office hours, holidays, or during absences of supervisors.
• Respond promptly and clearly to queries, escalating any issues immediately to appropriate personnel.
• Update tanker vessel call lists twice daily using AIS live and other available resources.
• Take proactive steps to minimize errors and miscommunications in operations.
• Process Fujairah port entry passes for clients, visitors, and personnel.
• Ensure timely and suitable action on all queries and coordination tasks.

Qualifications and Experience

• Completion of Higher Secondary Education is preferred.
• Strong English communication skills; knowledge of additional South Asian languages is beneficial.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and able to quickly learn new software systems.
• Minimum of 1 year experience in a customer-facing role.
• Experience in the shipping industry will be considered an advantage.
• Previous sailing experience is a highly desirable asset.
