Quality Inspector - Machining Facility

About the Role

We are seeking a Quality Inspector to oversee all quality assurance and control activities within our threading and machining facility, focusing on machine components. This position involves conducting inspections, maintaining quality documentation, and performing organizational duties that enhance business effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities

• Inspect and verify incoming materials to ensure they meet specified criteria.
• Perform inspection on 10% of each threaded connection or part to confirm compliance with design drawings.
• Decide on acceptance or rejection of machined and finished components.
• Provide technical support to machinists concerning quality-related issues.
• Maintain familiarity with all quality-related standards, procedures, and specifications.
• Coordinate qualification and requalification processes for premium connections, along with validation controls.
• Utilize the GP portal for job authorizations, procurement paperwork, and calibration requests.
• Document daily activities and maintain required process paperwork consistently.
• Execute additional reasonable duties as directed by Operations Supervisor.
• Verify phosphate connections according to work instructions and procedures, ensuring control of phosphate processes.
• Conduct daily chemical titrations following established protocols.
• Ensure phosphate operators fully understand and adhere to processes; provide guidance when needed.
• Accurately perform job tasks, verify parts, and confirm work orders; assist in identifying causes of faults in materials or assemblies; support departmental operations, including employee training as needed.
• Manage calibration cycles, perform gauge and instrument calibrations, and review calibration certificates.
• Review mill test certificates (MTC) for procured and customer-supplied materials.
• Provide customers with manufacturing drawings for products.
• Review work orders and specifications for each job received.
• Conduct final inspections on serviced goods and issue certificates of conformity.
• Maintain and update the tubular tracking sheet accurately.
• Organize and retain all quality records at a high standard.

Experience and Educational Requirements

• Minimum education of high school or equivalent; diploma or degree in engineering is preferred.
• At least 2 years of experience inspecting rotatory shoulder connections (such as API, Grant Prideco, Tenaris) on drill pipes, HWDPs, drill collars, and drill stem components, or related experience.
• Strong English communication skills in reading, writing, and speaking.
• Good technical knowledge of machine shop operations.
• Able to read and interpret specifications and engineering drawings to API, Grant Prideco, DS1, VAM standards.
