Overview
The Project Supervisor position is embedded within the Mechanical Projects and Construction projects division. Reporting to the Projects Manager or M&E Contracts Manager, this role demands initiative and strong leadership to oversee the planning, design, supervision, and execution of mechanical projects. A primary responsibility is ensuring all activities comply with stringent health and safety standards while delivering projects efficiently and on schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead project deliverables to guarantee successful completion, including cost coordination, value engineering, and quotation preparation.
- Interpret design drawings and specifications accurately in alignment with project requirements.
- Develop quotations for both reactive and planned projects by reviewing scope of works.
- Manage materials procurement, collaborating with suppliers on pricing and delivery schedules.
- Supervise daily operations of the Minor Works Projects Division related to mechanical tasks.
- Plan and oversee allocation of labor and subcontractors, ensuring resource adequacy and scheduling additional help as needed.
- Implement structured systems for tracking project progress, resource use, and controlling costs.
- Supervise subcontractors on site to maintain quality and compliance.
- Conduct regular quality assurance inspections ensuring adherence to design, standards, and regulations.
- Drive performance improvements and innovation to enhance service delivery and meet targets.
- Identify risks proactively and deploy mitigation strategies to prevent delays, budget overruns, or safety issues.
- Maintain effective communication with management and onsite personnel, providing clear progress updates and instructions.
- Mentor junior staff and apprentices, fostering their technical growth and professional skills.
- Facilitate regular meetings and customer forums with stakeholders to promote transparency and collaboration.
- Keep comprehensive project documentation, including logs, reports, and post-project evaluations for ongoing enhancements.
- Ensure adherence to Company policies, safe work systems, client processes, and all health and safety legislation within scope of responsibility.
- Work closely with the Projects Manager to monitor project KPIs and implement correction actions when necessary.
- Respond promptly to client requests, maintaining strong customer focus throughout project execution.
- Perform any other duties essential to the operational efficiency of the business.
Qualifications and Experience
- Certified tradesperson holding a National Craft Certificate, ideally with plumbing expertise.
- Minimum five years of extensive experience in a busy construction environment.
- Holds a valid SOLAS Safe Pass plus training certifications for Manual Handling, Working at Heights, Abrasive Wheels, among others.
- Possesses a full clean driving license for travel to multiple sites.
- Good awareness of health and safety compliance within workplace and project contexts.
- Experience ideally includes Facilities Management or Engineering/Construction sectors.
- Proven track record in a similar project supervisory role with project management qualifications or experience.
- Strong command of project management tools, budgeting, cost control, and scheduling.
- Demonstrable ability to coach and lead trade teams to achieve high performance levels.
- Familiarity with sustainability best practices applied across project lifecycles.
