Job Overview

Electrification and grid projects are large-scale, complex initiatives conducted by international teams. The Project Cost Controller plays a vital role in overseeing cost engineering, estimation, and cost control throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring transparent, predictable, and commercially viable project delivery. This role aligns closely with Estimation, Planning, Scheduling, Procurement, and Commercial functions to maintain an integrated cost-schedule framework, performance tracking, and early-warning systems to aid decision-making and enhance profitability and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage project costs, commitments, budgets, and forecasts.
  • Develop and update Estimate at Completion (EAC), Cost to Complete (CTC), cash flow forecasts, and cost trend analyses.
  • Conduct variance analysis, productivity assessments, and performance evaluations with regular reporting.
  • Integrate cost control activities with project planning and scheduling, including progress measurement and Earned Value Management (EVM) alignment.
  • Support cost estimating, price reviews, vendor quotations, and benchmarking efforts.
  • Monitor and assess cost impacts of changes, claims, risks, and opportunities.
  • Maintain consistent cost coding, Cost Breakdown Structure (CBS)/Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), and reporting standards.
  • Provide reliable cost data to support commercial negotiations and stakeholder communications.
  • Contribute to the ongoing enhancement of cost control tools, procedures, and forecasting precision.

Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Finance, or related field.
  • Multiple years of experience in project cost control, cost engineering, or cost estimating within large industrial or infrastructure projects.
  • Experience in sectors such as Electrification, HVDC, Substations, Grid Integration, or Oil & Gas is advantageous.
  • In-depth understanding of cost control principles, forecasting methodologies, and performance measurement.
  • Familiarity with WBS/CBS frameworks and Earned Value Management practices.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems like SAP, Oracle, or similar platforms.
  • Advanced Excel skills; knowledge of Power BI considered a strong plus.
  • Excellent communication abilities and stakeholder management skills.
  • Fluency in English required; German language skills are beneficial.
  • Proactive attitude with a keen interest in continuous process improvement.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification such as AACE Certified Cost Professional (CCP) or equivalent.
  • Experience working in international project environments.
