About the Role and Organizational Background
The Independent Evaluation Office (IEO) of UNDP seeks to enhance development effectiveness through strategic, independent evaluations that uphold UNDP’s policies. IEO operates multiple workstreams including evaluation programs and manages fiduciary responsibilities such as travel, procurement, HR, and finance. The Project Analyst will support operational functions integral to IEO’s mission, focusing on administration, procurement, and financial processes, ensuring adherence to policies and quality service.
Key Responsibilities
- Support operationalization of IEO strategies with a client-oriented, results-driven approach, ensuring compliance with UN and UNDP rules and internal controls.
- Liaise with service clusters and Treasury for timely payment processing per KPIs.
- Assist in preparing reports for external stakeholders and financial reports alongside Finance Associates.
- Provide backup support for finance functions, including invoice preparation and payment monitoring.
- Support travel arrangements and non-travel related financial submissions.
- Collaborate across IEO teams and HQs to resolve operational issues and streamline processes.
- Contribute to the financial design and budget management supporting regionalization efforts.
- Support UNEG Secretariat’s budget monitoring, procurement requests, payments, and travel arrangements, including supplier coordination and data analytics.
- Aid in organizing IEO events and managing office administration tasks such as deliveries and purchases.
- Facilitate knowledge-building activities, including training staff on finance and operations and sharing best practices.
Candidate Profile and Competencies
- Advanced university degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or related field preferred; or Bachelor's degree with 2 additional years of relevant experience considered.
- No professional experience required with a Master’s; at least 2 years relevant experience needed with a Bachelor’s.
- Competencies include result orientation, innovation, continuous learning, adaptability, determination, partnership building, and embracing diversity.
- Strong skills in finance, budget management, procurement, project management, use of corporate credit cards, and communication.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, advanced Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint), web-based data systems, and ERP software is essential.
- Experience with UNDP or other UN agencies' operational systems and procedures is advantageous.
- Fluent English required; Spanish or French knowledge is beneficial.
