About the Role
The Programme Manager will be responsible for overseeing the full lifecycle of transmission-level customer connections projects, including generation, demand, and interconnections, mainly where transmission and some distribution voltage work is involved. Reporting lines extend up to senior stakeholders, with a key focus on delivering substantial investments in electricity connection offers in alignment with monthly deadlines. The position is based in Dublin with a hybrid work setting (2 days onsite, 3 days remote).
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team delivering large-scale programmes to connect generation to the national grid.
- Ensure delivery of electricity connection projects at transmission and distribution voltages requiring transmission work.
- Drive the achievement of monthly targets related to connection offers and maintain proactive communication with generation customers and internal teams.
- Promote best practices in offer process delivery and foster a culture of continuous improvement and high performance within the team.
- Provide leadership, mentoring, and development opportunities for team members to enhance competencies and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Represent the organisation in stakeholder, regulatory, and customer discussions and negotiations, including interactions with senior and executive leadership inside and outside the company.
- Work collaboratively across internal teams to address complex technical and commercial challenges and act as an escalation point as needed.
- Oversee effective stakeholder engagement, ensuring clear communication, meaningful interactions, and accurate reporting across parties.
Qualifications and Experience
- Engineering degree or equivalent NFQ level 8 qualification.
- Professional certifications such as Chartered status, PMP, PRINCE2, or related credentials are required.
- At least 15 years of relevant experience in the power industry, particularly within regulated environments.
- Demonstrable success managing portfolios of large-scale, complex projects and driving impactful outcomes.
- In-depth knowledge of the power sector’s technical and commercial aspects, especially concerning customer connections and industry stakeholders.
- Strong leadership skills supporting high-performing teams in dynamic contexts, with the ability to motivate and develop staff.
- Excellent analytical, judgment, and problem-solving abilities alongside decisive decision-making.
- Proven capability in managing complex stakeholder relationships and negotiations to deliver positive results.
- Track record of innovating and implementing new solutions to meet business challenges and improve performance.
- Exceptional communication skills, capable of translating complex technical and commercial information clearly for diverse audiences including senior executives.
- Proficient in professional writing and presentations tailored to customers and business stakeholders.
Additional Information
Industry experience with high-voltage electricity is mandatory. The role requires regular engagement with senior management and C-suite clients, requiring diplomacy, persuasion, and collaborative skills. The programme is central to connecting renewable energy sources to the national power grid, supporting strategic transformation initiatives.
