Overview
This opportunity is shared through a hiring partner, which handles applications and the next steps in the process. The employer is seeking a Product Owner in Canada to help guide the development of digital archive management software used by organizations to preserve, locate, and share important collections.
The role sits at the intersection of product direction, user needs, technical collaboration, and stakeholder communication. You will work in an international remote setup and partner with archivists, records managers, developers, and other teams to improve tools that support information management and digital preservation.
This position is well suited to someone who enjoys translating user challenges into product improvements and contributing to technology that supports cultural heritage and archival access.
What you'll do
- Take ownership of the product backlog and keep priorities aligned with broader business and product goals.
- Serve as the main product expert for the archives solution and represent user needs throughout the Agile delivery cycle.
- Work with developers and product colleagues to shape requirements, refine priorities, and help move features from idea to release.
- Connect with archivists, records managers, and end users to understand their daily workflows, pain points, and improvement opportunities.
- Convert feedback and business input into precise product requirements and actionable development work.
- Lead product demos and walkthroughs for both internal and external audiences.
- Help create a product experience that is consistent, easy to use, and centered on the user.
- Keep up with archival practices, industry norms, and digital preservation expectations so they can inform product choices.
- Partner with Customer Success, Sales, and Support to surface insights and spot areas where the product can improve.
- Contribute to ongoing product refinement by reviewing user needs, market movement, and product results.
Requirements
- A post-secondary degree or certificate in a relevant discipline such as Library Science, Information Science, History, Archival Studies, Computer Science, or a similar area.
- 3 to 5 years of experience in a technical setting, in product ownership, or working with archives and records management systems.
- Strong written and spoken communication skills with the ability to explain complex ideas clearly to different audiences.
- Excellent analytical thinking, problem-solving ability, attention to detail, and strong organizational skills.
- Comfort with technical concepts and the ability to communicate them effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Hands-on experience managing product backlogs and organizing development priorities using product or project management tools.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-moving remote environment.
- Strong people skills and experience working across multiple teams and subject areas.
- Interest in archives, records management, digital preservation, and cultural heritage, or a willingness to learn these areas.
- Experience with Jira and/or Aha!, product management certifications, or familiarity with archival and metadata standards will be considered an advantage.
Benefits
- Flexible fully remote work across Canada, the US, and UK time zones.
- The chance to influence a product used by organizations preserving historically and culturally significant collections.
- Exposure to work with government bodies, museums, libraries, and information management professionals.
- Opportunity to join an established company with many years of experience in information management software.
- Experience working on international projects with distributed teams.
- A supportive environment that values innovation, learning, and professional growth.
- The chance to collaborate with teams committed to improving access to valuable information resources.
- Possible occasional travel for client engagement and team coordination.
