Stellenbeschreibung
About the Company and Role
Innovac GmbH, based in Berlin, is pioneering the development of recyclable lightweight panel systems aimed at furniture, storage solutions, modular interiors, and structural applications. This company integrates sustainability, design, engineering, and production to craft innovative material and product solutions from initial concepts through to scalable prototypes.
We seek a versatile Product Designer / CAD Designer who will bridge creative product design, detailed CAD modeling, prototyping, and hands-on product development. The ideal candidate enjoys moving fluidly between conceptual sketches, CAD creation, and the tangible production of prototypes, all while addressing practical manufacturing constraints.
Key Responsibilities
- Conceptualize and develop product ideas utilizing lightweight panel materials and modular profiles.
- Generate CAD models, technical drawings, and detailed assembly instructions for furniture items, storage boxes, and panel structures.
- Design connection systems, edge finishes, inserts, profiles, and elemental hardware fittings.
- Prepare precision manufacturing documentation for CNC operations including cutting, routing, welding, bending, assembly, and prototyping phases.
- Collaborate closely with engineering teams, workshops, and production partners to ensure design feasibility and compliance with fabrication capabilities.
- Contribute to the growth of modular product lines based on standardized board sizes, profiles, and connecting principles.
- Produce compelling visual renderings and presentation materials intended for customers, collaborators, and investors.
- Refine prototypes by incorporating feedback from practical testing and assembly trials.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Proficient in advanced CAD software such as SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Rhino, Inventor, or AutoCAD.
- Strong foundation in product design, furniture design, industrial design, or technical product development.
- Skillful in designing components considering tolerances, joints, fasteners, and assembly nuances.
- Experience working with sheet materials, panels, plastics, modular structures, exhibition systems, furniture, or lightweight product assemblies.
- Capable of translating conceptual sketches into production-ready CAD documentation.
- A creative thinker with a pragmatic approach to design challenges.
- Keen interest in sustainable and circular product design along with hands-on prototyping.
Additional Preferred Skills
- Experience with CNC routing, plastic welding, thermoforming, extrusion profiles, or sheet fabrication techniques.
- Familiarity with furniture hardware components, connectors, hinges, edge treatments, and modular system design.
- Exposure to sustainable, recycled materials, or lightweight structural solutions.
- Aptitude for developing product renderings for presentations.
Role Objectives
This position aims to translate an innovative lightweight panel material into tangible prototype products exemplifying potential applications in furniture, modular interiors, storage boxes, and structural lightweight systems. It balances creative design, technical detail, and practical fabrication knowledge. This is not solely a conceptual design or office-bound CAD position but involves direct engagement with prototyping and real-world production challenges.
Work Environment
You will join a small, diverse team with flat organizational structure that promotes rapid decision-making and encourages proactive idea contributions. Interaction with developers, prototype fabricators, and production personnel is integral to the role.
