Role Summary
This is a remote, full-time position for a Procurement Specialist responsible for sourcing and buying the goods and services needed to support Urban Alchemy’s programs and day-to-day operations. The role centers on purchase order preparation and processing, supplier assessment, contract and price negotiation, procurement recordkeeping, and close coordination with program and finance teams to anticipate demand and manage inventory effectively.
Key Duties
The position involves reviewing vendor options for quality, dependability, and cost, then helping select partners that fit budget and policy expectations. It also includes analyzing procurement data, keeping records accurate and organized, checking vendor performance, and spotting ways to strengthen procurement workflows and reduce expenses. Regular communication with internal teams and outside partners is a core part of the job, especially to ensure purchasing activity supports the organization’s mission efficiently and responsibly.
Qualifications
- Hands-on knowledge of procurement processes and purchase order management is needed to source, order, and track goods and services.
- Ability to evaluate suppliers based on performance, product or service quality, reliability, and alignment with organizational expectations is important.
- Contract and pricing negotiation skills are required to secure favorable terms while staying within policy and regulatory boundaries.
- Strong analytical ability is necessary for reviewing data, managing budgets, and supporting purchasing decisions.
- Familiarity with procurement software or ERP platforms, along with solid Microsoft Office skills—particularly Excel—would be helpful.
- High attention to detail, strong organization, and the capacity to juggle multiple priorities in a remote setting are essential.
- Clear written and spoken communication skills, plus the ability to work well with internal stakeholders and external vendors, are required.
- Background in nonprofit, social service, or community-based work, along with a genuine commitment to Urban Alchemy’s mission, is a plus.
- An associate or bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience, is preferred.
