Stellenbeschreibung

Role overview

This position sits within a Doha-based alternative investment platform that manages a six-person investment team. The team invests across education in the GCC, infrastructure and secondaries on a global basis, as well as selective opportunistic opportunities in other sectors.

The firm’s approach combines direct minority equity investments with co-investments alongside leading global sponsors. Across the broader team, the target is to deploy about USD 1 billion per year.

The current portfolio reflects both diversification and sponsor quality. It includes a GCC K-12 schools platform and a global lifestyle hospitality platform on the direct side. Co-investments span a global branded consumer business, a US middle-market alternative asset manager, and a premium European education group. In secondaries and continuation vehicles, the portfolio covers core infrastructure assets such as a major UK airport and a global subsea telecommunications network.

Role summary

This is a senior appointment with the opportunity to shape the mandate and lead the firm’s education investing, particularly in the GCC, while building on an established K-12 schools platform. The Director will oversee education transactions from start to finish and also contribute to the team’s broader direct and co-investment work, operating with a high degree of independence alongside senior leadership and external sponsors.

Responsibilities

  • Source and assess education investment opportunities across the GCC, especially K-12, premium and international schools.
  • Run transactions from initial analysis through completion, including financial modelling, valuation, due diligence, structuring, negotiation and documentation.
  • Design and execute direct minority equity investments and co-investments with global sponsors.
  • Build investment committee papers and present recommendations clearly and convincingly.
  • Manage portfolio holdings through board-level engagement, performance tracking, value creation initiatives and exit planning.
  • Contribute to the team’s wider direct investing, co-investment and secondaries activity across infrastructure and other sectors.

Requirements

  • Background in education investing, ideally with schools platforms such as K-12, international or premium schools; experience in the GCC or other emerging markets is an advantage.
  • Proven ability to execute direct equity and co-investment transactions end to end, including structuring, negotiation and M&A work.
  • Strong commercial judgement and the confidence to lead diligence work and present findings to an investment committee.
  • Existing relationships within the education ecosystem, including sponsors, operators and advisers, would be highly valuable.
  • Exposure to Shari’a-compliant structures is helpful but not mandatory.
  • Strong English communication skills are essential; Arabic would be an advantage.

Location

The role is based in Doha, Qatar. Relocation support is available.
