Role Overview

Join His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service at HMP Bullingdon as an Operational Support Grade (OSG) where you will play a crucial role in the smooth daily functioning of a busy prison environment. This position offers a dynamic mix of desk tasks and physical duties, including managing security checks at the gate, overseeing deliveries, supervising visitors, and monitoring phone communications and CCTV.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct security searches and controls at the prison entrance.
• Manage incoming deliveries efficiently and securely.
• Supervise visitors ensuring compliance with prison protocols.
• Monitor phone calls and CCTV surveillance for security purposes.
• Escort vehicles throughout the prison grounds as required.

Candidate Profile

No formal qualifications are necessary to apply; however, strong communication skills and the ability to maintain calm under pressure are essential. Good judgment, sound common sense, and teamwork mindset are vital to effectively supporting the prison’s operation.

You must hold a valid full UK driving license that includes Category D1, allowing you to legally drive vehicles up to 8 metres long with up to 16 passenger seats and a trailer up to 750kg. Although having your own transport is advantageous due to the site's rural location and limited public transport, it is not mandatory for this role. Note that punctuality for fixed shift start and finish times is your individual responsibility.

Working Conditions

The role requires a willingness to work varied shifts including nights and weekends to ensure consistent support in the prison environment. Contact with prisoners is generally limited but may occasionally occur depending on the establishment.

• Starting salary of £29,432 per annum.
