Role Overview
The Point of Care Testing Lead will manage and oversee the delivery of the Point of Care Testing (POCT) service at the Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust. This permanent full-time position requires 37.5 working hours weekly and includes responsibility for operational, managerial, and technical aspects of the POCT service. Key duties involve leadership of POCT Associate Practitioners, data-driven reporting, and service development including device validation and expansion of testing services into community settings.
Main Responsibilities
- Supervise POCT Associate Practitioners and ensure team effectiveness.
- Generate monthly performance and quality reports for stakeholders.
- Lead departmental meetings and engage in relevant external discussions.
- Coordinate and deliver training sessions to clinical staff on equipment use, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Analyze internal quality controls and external quality assessments and report findings to stakeholders.
- Collaborate with Quality Management Groups to maintain UKAS accreditation standards.
- Lead validation efforts for new or updated testing devices.
- Drive service enhancements and extend offerings to community healthcare settings.
- Update and maintain POCT documentation and protocols.
