Position Overview
We are recruiting a Physiotherapist for the Geriatrics, Musculoskeletal, and Multisystem Inpatient Rehabilitation Program at the Toronto Rehab - University Centre. This permanent part-time role offers 15 hours biweekly, primarily covering weekend shifts every alternate Saturday and Sunday. The position reports to the Allied Health & Outpatient Manager and involves providing comprehensive physical therapy assessment and treatment to patients with musculoskeletal, geriatric, and multisystem conditions admitted during weekends.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough physical therapy evaluations and treatments for musculoskeletal, geriatrics, and multisystem patients admitted over the weekend.
- Assess patients’ requirements for mobility aids and prescribe appropriate equipment accordingly.
- Work collaboratively with an inter-professional healthcare team to deliver patient-centered care.
- Maintain clear and effective communication with patients, their families, and healthcare team members.
- Engage actively in program planning, development, and participate in quality management initiatives and research projects.
- Adhere strictly to patient safety protocols and hospital policies to ensure a safe treatment environment.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Physiotherapy (BScPT) or an equivalent professional qualification.
- At least two years of clinical experience managing musculoskeletal and orthopedic conditions.
- Preferred experience in working with oncology and transplant patients, as well as geriatrics.
- Experience with weekend and/or float shifts is considered an asset.
- Registration with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario is mandatory.
- Certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (B Level or C Level) Heart Saver Plus Canada.
- Membership in the Canadian Physiotherapy Association is desirable.
- Proven ability to function effectively as part of an interdisciplinary team.
- Outstanding interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving capabilities and sound clinical judgment with the ability to work independently.
- Compliance with the Regulated Health Professions Act (1991), including the Canadian Physiotherapy Association’s Code of Ethics and Rules of Conduct.
- Competence in implementing hospital safety, emergency, and infection control protocols.
- Proficiency with computer applications relevant to clinical practice.
