Job description
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Payroll Officer to join our busy and expanding payroll bureau located in Sheffield. This full-time permanent role involves handling payroll for a diverse portfolio of clients from various industries. As a central member of the payroll team, you will ensure accurate, timely payroll processing in compliance with relevant regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Executing end-to-end payroll processing on weekly, fortnightly, and monthly schedules.
- Managing employee lifecycle events including new hires, departures, and changes to employee records.
- Handling statutory payment processing such as Statutory Sick Pay (SSP), Statutory Maternity Pay (SMP), and Statutory Paternity Pay (SPP).
- Administering pension schemes and ensuring adherence to auto-enrolment rules.
- Submitting Real Time Information (RTI) to HMRC and generating payroll reports.
- Addressing payroll-related inquiries from clients and employees promptly and professionally.
- Maintaining up-to-date and accurate payroll and personnel data.
- Keeping informed of changes in payroll laws and best practices.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Prior experience working in payroll roles.
- Solid knowledge of payroll legislation and HMRC compliance requirements.
- Capability to handle multiple payrolls concurrently while meeting deadlines.
- Exceptional attention to detail combined with strong problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication skills and a commitment to client/customer service.
- Proficiency with payroll software and Microsoft Excel.
- Self-motivated, with a collaborative and team-oriented working style.
