Role Overview
This entry-level position is crucial for ensuring effective communication among hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, patients, and clinical teams, primarily through email, fax, text, and phone communication. It is an excellent opportunity for individuals familiar with healthcare seeking entry into the field. The role demands strong organizational and multitasking skills to manage various correspondences and documentation.
Primary Responsibilities
- Facilitate consistent communication with healthcare entities and patient care teams across multiple clinics and facilities.
- Track and follow up on pending documentation, orders, and items to ensure timely processing.
- Navigate and understand complex insurance procedures and requirements.
- Maintain accurate and organized records related to patient referrals and communications.
Secondary Responsibilities
- Greet patients upon arrival, provide wait time information, and address their inquiries at the reception.
- Update and verify patient demographics and insurance information during check-ins, including walk-in registrations.
- Process patient payments such as deductibles, copays, and co-insurances at the front desk.
- Ensure completeness and accuracy of electronic health records for all patients.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent education and experience combination.
- Less than one year of experience in customer service, administrative roles, or related fields.
- Preference for candidates with receptionist experience or familiarity with medical front office duties.
- Eligibility to obtain a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record per company policies.
- Completion of the Talent Sorter assessment as part of the selection process is preferred.
Additional Preferred Attributes and Skills
- Strong interpersonal and effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Typing speed of 30 words per minute with accuracy.
- Ability to assist individuals with disabilities respectfully.
- Familiarity with the Alpha filing system and medical terminology related to reimbursement.
- Proficiency in using Windows-based software, email, and standard office equipment like fax machines, copiers, and postage machines.
