Overview
This role involves coordinating activities within the packing area, ensuring smooth operations and adherence to quality and safety standards. The Packing Supervisor will report directly to the Production Manager and play a critical role in managing the packing team and maintaining high operational standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the packing personnel to maintain efficiency and quality.
- Conduct performance reviews and appraisals for packing staff.
- Ensure packing sheets are fully completed and all pallets are recorded accurately in the Insight system.
- Verify that best before dates are properly documented and accurate.
- Uphold compliance with Quality Assurance protocols and Standard Operating Procedures.
- Report management data such as waste and product rejects.
- Coordinate with maintenance teams for engineering issues and repairs.
- Collaborate with cleaning staff to address specific concerns and joint initiatives.
- Review weekly work plans, identifying and resolving potential challenges.
- Work with the Production Manager to identify training and recruitment needs.
- Conduct Health and Safety audits and hygiene inspections.
- Participate in QA processes including product micro sampling and completing weekly glass logs.
- Maintain health and safety practices for all team members in the area.
- Record accidents and perform thorough accident investigations.
- Liaise with management accounts and supply chain to reconcile finished stock, investigate losses, and implement continuous improvements.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes and reduce operational costs.
- Ensure the packing area remains clean and hygienic at all times.
- Manage staff schedules including hours, holidays, and approved absences while meeting production demands.
- Handle printing of labels and learn the bar-coding system.
- Ensure all documentation is handed over and the workspace is clean at shift end.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Experience in people management and team supervision.
- Proficiency with computer applications and numerical skills related to stock management, access systems, and reconciliation.
- Strong communication capabilities.
- Completion of a supervision course.
- Knowledge of quality systems and standards.
